I am very aware that our present day glassmaking traditions hark back 2000 years to the Roman glassmakers and that our tools and techniques would be very familiar to a Roman glassmaker. My romano series pays homage to that era. These bowls are a revelation in the sunlight casting the most lovely shadows.

Oil Lamp

Whenever I see a piece of Roman glass I am aware of the skill but also the sense of fun particularly in their approach to handles. A handle is made in a few seconds so it is like a snapshot of a moment in time.These little oil lamps cat a ring of light on the table moving with the flickering flame.
