Chale

1 Chale Barrel Vase

Originally I called this series broken Chale a pun on the beach at Chale on the Isle of Wight, broken because of the shapes of the small stones and pebbles found on the beach. Now we simply call it Chale and it still reminds me of a walk along the shoreline. This is one of the larger barrel shapes I make, ideal for an armful of grasses.

27 cmThe item shown has been sold.
An almost identical piece will be available shortly, but colours will vary slightly.

2 Chale flower vase

A traditional flower vase form in Chale colours. Each piece we make varies in pttern slightly each piece is a one off, ehenever possible we advertise the actual piece but sometimes there simply isnt time to renew the images. But we would always make a piece of equal merit

3 Chale

This "boat shape vase" has an oval section and the top section looks like a boat, hence the name. They can look particularly effective displaying dry grasses which complement the beach and ppebble colours we make them in several sizes and some can be wider than this shape. If you like the shape but would prefer a variation in proportion or size we can make one to suit.

4 Chale vase

A smaller vase form The design is made by addng opposing sides of Turmalin and olive brown glass colour and then picking up large pieces of frit and white colour which push aside the body colour and give the rich pebbled surface. The whole gather is then allowed to twist in the heat of the glory hole to provide the swirl, and thus the lovely landscape effect.

5 Chale

These boat shapes particularly suit the chale series because the flatter sides amplify the drawing we can of course make them in more traditional round, vase and barrel shapes. the shape is first blown round and then flattened using a pad of wet newspaper. The piece is then transferred to another iron, the pontil and broken off the blowing iron so that the top can be opened up and then on the last warm in the oval shape is reinforced with the pucellas.Dont forget if you would like a variation odf any of these pieces we can make one especially for you.
