AEGEAN
I searched for a name for this series begun three years ago. I love the colours and the rich reds and silver combined with the translucency of blues and yellow gold are fantastic in the sunlight which streams into the studio. They thrive on light, the Aegean light, cerulean skies, sunlight and the deep of the sea. Vessels fit for HEROES AND ODYSSEY.

2 Aegean

This is an "exotic" decanter in Aegean taking the form of a figure in flowing robes. I rekon you would need to store something rich sweet and firly toxic in a bottle like this

3 Aegean

Like most of the Aegean pieces this large flask is heavy and has a textured surface. The colour is applied to the first gather of glass and when the neck has been formed another gather of very hot glass is gathered over the lower part and blown to shape.

4 Aegean

Another thing the Aegean series reminds me of is the painter Andre Derain with his brave colours they are more paintings than glass but painting in pure colour, pure light. I started making small trees a long time ago and I still enjoy the shape.

6 Aegean

This narrow flask is almost a torso narrowing towards the base and like the other aegean pieces with textured sides. The texture comes from blowing the furnace hot glass into crude steel moulds before expanding the form, some are also blown into sand formers.I enjoy working with the textures that can be acheived this way and the contrast with the slick surface of glass.

Aegean bowl, sitting in the sunlight the colours are so beautiful the azure blues through to green and gold the silver leaf reflecting the colours on the inside.This could be the bowl of an alchemist or you could keep your tomatoes in it
